2/8/2024 0 Comments Teenage swimsuit models tumblrthe blonde was named Tori and she was an Australian sk8r grl, there was a French artist named Lara (i had her doll, which came with a little toolbox of paints and stuff)… oh, and ofc there was Barbie. I had two or three of these books - they were some weird Barbie spin-off revolving around a group of high-school girls from a variety of backgrounds. perfunctory Wikipediaing tells me a good half of them never really made it into the new millennium. I’m pretty sure i’ve never heard of any of these artists. “America’s #1 manufacturer of one ounce lollipops” - doesn’t seem to exist anymore. Show me a kid who made $2,248.00 selling lollipops and i’ll show you… i don’t know where i’m going with this, but nobody made $2,248.00 selling lollipops. Why did we all love those weird tattoo chokers so much? (also that poor girl on the left is never getting that headband out of her hair) as someone who went from an underweight elementary-schooler to a fat teenager almost overnight, i didn’t know what the big deal was back in 1999, but hoo boy i do now. there’s no date on it, unfortunately, but the label on the back says DO NOT DRINK THIS!Įvery summer, Girls’ Life would show off a bunch of bathing suits in the June/July issue, and every fall, there’d be at least one angry letter about how every single swimsuit model was a size negative one. it’s now a poisonous shade of green instead of bright blue and smells like a disgusting antibiotic i had to take a few times as a kid. i couldn’t tell you what it was actually about, but the cover looks very familiar. I’m pretty sure i had that Two of a Kind book on the lower right. Remember when the Olsen twins were relevant? i don’t remember ever seeing this stuff in my local CVS, so i’m not sure how successful they really were. Lip Smackers tried to expand into the shower gel/nail polish/antibacterial hand gel market. i had major back-to-school anxiety, folks - every year starting in junior high, i told myself this was the year i’d dress better and talk to more people and work harder and just be a more fun, interesting, fashionable person overall. Fun fact: all of the old GL magazines i still have are the August/September issues.
